If there is anyone who is thinking about doing this trip i would highly recommend it. There are some pretty amazing views and you get to canoe it, which is not something most people get to do every day. We left around 9 in the morning on the Sunday thinking that the canoe portion would take a long time. But once we got into the rhythm with the canoes we were across the lake in under 2 hours (Launched from Savona, 8km one way). When we got there there wasn't much of a beach due to the high waters we are experiencing in BC, but we were able to find a place to store the canoes, have lunch then head up the bluffs.
Once we hiked to the top of a little hill to the tracks we were amazed by the amazing sights to see. The picture below is just the beginning
We immediately started hiking up higher to get to the top of the bluffs. There is not really a trail anywhere so we started hiking up some spines (Which got a bit sketchy towards the top). The whole way up there was some pretty amazing colors. Once we got to the top we saw some awesome views of Kamloops Lake and of the painted bluffs. ReplyDeleteI am not 100% sure you can drive but there is a dirt road that does go along the north side of the lake to some houses that you might be able to take. But what I was told was it is a fairly long drive and canoeing is much faster (and I think it's more fun :))
